Finding Memorial Hospital in the busiest airport in Europe
When I arrived in Istanbul, jet-lagged and hungry, I was worried that I would not be able to find Memorial’s welcome desk. Istanbul’s airport is the busiest in Europe. Spoiler alert: I was overthinking it.
How to find Memorial Hospital in the Istanbul airport
It’s easier than I thought.
Upon arrival, you’ll shuffle through various customs checkpoints. When you get to the terminal, you can stop for a snack, bio break, or just a quick reorient. When you’re ready, head out past security, towards the exit. You’ll find an atrium. Look for door 13 (but don’t go through it or you’ll find yourself on the curb). When we were there, the number over door 13 was hidden from view (by an ad or something) but it was the door between 12 and 14. So.
Look across the atrium, opposite from door 13, and you’ll see the Memorial Hospital welcome desk. Head on over. They are expecting you. A staff member will check you in and help you make your way to meet your car service.
We met Jahan at the welcome desk during our trip. She made sure we were comfortable, did my paperwork, and made friends with my young son. She spoke excellent English and the process felt very smooth.
What to expect at the welcome desk
You’ll need to show your passport or other official identification.
You’ll find a restroom conveniently around the corner from the welcome desk.
There's a seating area for you and your travel companions to wait comfortably during check in.
Hospitality items like bottled water are available, no extra charge.
Travelling with kids? Find small puzzles and activity kits among the brochures.
Memorial Hospital is about a 45 minute drive away.
